Stellenbeschreibung

The m.a.x. museo is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Museum Curator specializing in Contemporary Art and Design. This pivotal role involves the research, development, and execution of compelling exhibitions, as well as the strategic growth and management of our permanent collection. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of art history, current trends in contemporary art, and a commitment to engaging diverse audiences. You will contribute significantly to the museum’s artistic vision and its mission to celebrate innovation in graphic art and design.

Hauptverantwortlichkeiten

• Conduct in-depth research for exhibition development, focusing on contemporary art, graphic design, and industrial design.
• Propose, plan, and execute innovative temporary exhibitions from concept to installation.
• Manage and contribute to the growth of the museum's permanent collection, including acquisitions, documentation, and conservation oversight.
• Develop and write exhibition-related content, including labels, catalog essays, and interpretive materials.
• Collaborate with the education department to create engaging public programs, lectures, and workshops.
• Work with the marketing and communications teams to promote exhibitions and the museum's mission.
• Assist in grant writing and fundraising efforts to support curatorial projects.
• Cultivate relationships with artists, galleries, collectors, and other cultural institutions.

Erforderliche Fähigkeiten

• Master's degree in Art History, Museum Studies, Curatorial Practice, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in curatorial roles within a museum or gallery setting.
• Demonstrated expertise in contemporary art, graphic design, or industrial design.
• Strong research, writing, and editorial skills.
• Proficiency in English and Italian; German or French a plus.
• Excellent organizational and project management abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.

Bevorzugte Qualifikationen

• Ph.D. in a relevant field.
• Experience with collection management software (e.g., The Museum System, KE EMu).
• Proven track record of successful exhibition planning and execution.
• Established network within the contemporary art and design community.
