Stellenbeschreibung

We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Part-Time Language Assistant (English) to join our esteemed faculty at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about promoting English language proficiency and cultural understanding within an academic setting. As a Language Assistant, you will support students in their English language learning journey, contribute to language workshops, and assist faculty members with various pedagogical tasks. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience in higher education while working in a stimulating international environment.

Hauptverantwortlichkeiten

• Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions to students requiring assistance with English language skills (grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation).
• Support faculty in organizing and conducting English language workshops, conversation clubs, and cultural events.
• Assist with the preparation of teaching materials, exercises, and assessments under the guidance of lead instructors.
• Facilitate interactive activities and discussions to encourage active participation and improve students' conversational English.
• Offer feedback on written assignments and presentations to help students refine their academic English.
• Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the ongoing development of language programs.
• Help students navigate cultural nuances and academic expectations in an English-speaking context.

Erforderliche Fähigkeiten

• Native or near-native proficiency in English (C2 level or equivalent).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong understanding of English grammar, syntax, and pronunciation.
• Ability to explain complex language concepts clearly and concisely.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in helping others learn.
• Currently enrolled in or a graduate of a relevant Bachelor’s or Master’s program (e.g., English Studies, Linguistics, Education, Communications).

Bevorzugte Qualifikationen

• Previous experience in tutoring, teaching, or assisting in language instruction.
• Familiarity with various language learning methodologies and resources.
• Basic proficiency in German (B1 level or higher) to facilitate communication with local students and staff.
• Experience with academic writing and presentation in English.
• Cultural sensitivity and experience working with diverse student populations.
